Our Story

Kitchen Store owner Jeanne Smyers and the Kitchen Store building

The Kitchen Store & More, located in the heart of historic downtown Conway, Arkansas, is the first place many people in the area think of when there are births, weddings and holidays to celebrate and decorate. We offer the variety, options and quality of a large department store but set in a casual, fun atmosphere where you never know what you might find around the next corner.  We carry high-end cookware and dishware, affordable lines of kitchen supplies, an eclectic mix of home décor, the latest styles in women’s accessories, gourmet coffee and snacks, baby clothes and toys, and that’s just scratching the surface.

The “and More” in our name really does mean more with an always evolving mix of home furnishings and lifestyle accessories. If you haven’t visited us in a while you may be surprised with our recent remodeling and new offerings that change as often as the seasons in The Natural State. We always strive to stay in tune with the interests and desires of our clientele.

Owner Jeanne Smyers started a craft show with a friend in her driveway when her family lived in Houston in the 70s. Jeanne, her husband Mike, and their children would gather around the table at night and make Christmas ornaments out of dough to sell at the shows, which grew to such a point that they rented out some of the biggest event centers in the area to host what had become the largest craft show in Houston. The family moved to Conway in 1987 when Mike became Vice President of Arkansas for the American Cancer Society.  After Mike retired in 1999, the Smyers purchased what is now The Kitchen Store & More the following January.

For Mike, each day at The Kitchen Store was the same – creating a fun, engaging atmosphere for customers and employees and that spirit still lives on today. While Mike passed away a few years back, his wife Jeanne and daughters Tricia and Amy oversee the day-to-day operations of a business that has seen many remodels and shifts in its merchandise offerings over the years.  One thing that hasn’t changed is Mike’s overriding sense that quality customer service was the most important aspect of The Kitchen Store & More experience.

Winner of the 2014 Conway Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year – Outstanding Retailer, The Kitchen Store & More has become a fixture of downtown Conway, where people return year after year to find the perfect gift or to accessorize their home and personal style.
